Joining Us
At St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School and Nursery, we are proud to offer children a warm, caring and ambitious start to their education. Our mission, Learning, Growing and Living with Jesus, is at the heart of school life and shapes the way we teach, support and care for every child.
We are a welcoming Catholic school community where children are known, valued and encouraged to become confident, thoughtful and independent learners. Families choose St Anthony’s because of our strong relationships, our high expectations, our inclusive support and the sense of belonging that runs through the school.
Whether you are looking for a Nursery place, a Reception place or an in year place, we would be delighted to welcome you to visit our school and see St Anthony’s in action.
Why choose St Anthony’s?
At St Anthony’s, children are supported to grow academically, socially and spiritually. We want every child to flourish, not just in their learning, but in the kind of person they become.
Families choose our school because:
- We are a caring Catholic community with a strong sense of mission.
- Children are known well by staff and supported as individuals.
- We have high expectations for learning, behaviour and personal development.
- Our curriculum is broad, engaging and rooted in real experiences.
- We provide strong support for pupils with additional needs and those learning English as an additional language.
- We work closely with parents and carers because children do best when school and home work together.
- We offer a wide range of opportunities, including trips, celebrations, performances, charity events, sport, prayer and worship.
The best way to understand St Anthony’s is to visit us. We would be very happy to show you around.
Nursery
Our Nursery gives children a happy, settled and nurturing start to school life. Children learn through play, exploration, stories, language, number, creativity and outdoor learning. Staff work closely with families to help children build confidence, independence and early friendships.
A place in our Nursery helps children become familiar with the routines, relationships and expectations of school, giving them a strong foundation before starting Reception.
To ask about Nursery places, please contact the school office.
* Please note that attending our Nursery does not automatically guarantee a Reception place. Parents and carers must still apply for Reception through the usual admissions process.
Reception
Children usually start Reception in the September after their fourth birthday. Applications for Reception places are made through Slough Borough Council as part of the normal admissions process.
Parents and carers applying for a Reception place should apply through Slough Borough Council. We also recommend reading the school’s admissions policy so that families understand how places are allocated if the school receives more applications than places available.
Years 1-6 & In Year Admissions
Families sometimes move schools during the academic year. This is called an in year admission.
If you are interested in a place at St Anthony’s during the school year, please contact the school office and check the Slough Borough Council link below for in year admissions process.
We warmly encourage prospective families to visit St Anthony’s. A visit gives you the chance to see our classrooms, meet staff, ask questions and experience the calm, friendly and purposeful atmosphere of the school.
During a visit, you can find out more about our Catholic life and mission, learning in Nursery and Reception, how we support children with different needs, our approach to behaviour and relationships, communication with parents, school routines, lunches, uniform and wider opportunities.
Please contact the school office to arrange a visit.
